The Other Half of the Sky: Launch Approaches

other half webThe Other Half of the Sky lifts off on April 23. Inadvertently and serendipitously, that coincides with my dad’s nameday in the Greek Orthodox calendar (GhiĆ³rghos – George). He considers it a good omen, and I concur.

In the meantime, reviews and interviews are starting to appear. The one by writer and editor Victoria Hooper is truly perceptive. Those who read my interview with Vicky may recognize/discover interesting names in my recommendations of SF by women authors. I’m compiling the reviews and interviews on a dedicated page (see blog sidebar) and Kate Sullivan, our intrepid publisher, is doing the same at the site she created for the collection, with excerpts as a bonus.

So mark your calendars and keep an eye for a comet in the sky!

I’m very excited by the approaching launch of The Other Half of the Sky, April 23 seems so near yet so far away. I will definitely check out your interview with Victoria Hopper to find some more SF authors to read in the meantime.

Speaking of serendipity, I was just snagging an old report on the Project Longshot interstellar probe design study when I got the sudden feeling I should check your blog. Just in time for this announcement, haha. Your thoughtwaves must be making ripples in the psionic field (or whatever other Star Trek terminology is appropriate, ha ha). ;D

  2. Athena says:

That’s funny, because thoughtwaves are mentioned in that interview!

Sheesh, I must be on the same wavelength. It’s 10:18PM Saturday night and I had the urge to check the site. Hot damn, the time has flown. Thought retirement would give me some free time but the opposite has occurred. Only 10 more days and I can order my copy.

I am delighted to be a part of the launch! I agree with your father, it is a good omen.

  4. Athena says:

Yes to all your words, Marie!

  5. Marie says:

    It’s me again.

I am wrong about ordering my copy. I already did on Amazon and it said the book will ship on April 18th. Aha…sooner than I though, I guess if I can’t get an ARC at least as luck would have it, the order is already in process.

May it be the first of a multitude.

  6. Athena says:

Amazon has the annoying (and occasionally damaging) habit of releasing books before their official release date.

Thank you for the lovely wish!

  7. Astronist says:

Also the date traditionally taken as Shakespeare’s birthday, of course, and St George’s day in the UK.

Very exciting news! The review and interview are both excellent, as are the SF recs.

Sixteen months from conception to delivery, not too bad!
